ARGENTINA HUNTING FAQ

Citizens of the United States, Canada and the European Union do not need a visa to enter Argentina. Your passport must be valid for six months after the last day of your trip. Visas may be required for other nationalities, so check the requirements for your country before you book flights.

The procedure to enter your gun to Argentina is very simple and it is done when the hunter arrives at the airport. Gun permits will be obtained at the Customs Agent. Only two guns per hunter are allowed to enter Argentina. Each gun pays a permit/fee of USD 100 to be paid at airport Renar/Police authorities. Pls contact us for more info if you are entering the country for the second time with guns.

The connection is simple. You will need to book a flight to Buenos Aires Ezeiza international airport (EZE) generally coming from any major city. You will need to schedule your international flights to arrive in Buenos Aires by early morning. You can connect with La Pampa province airport (Santa Rosa - RSA) by "Aerolineas Argentinas" domestic flight or with our weekly charter flight service connecting Buenos Aires with La Pampa offering a complete solution for domestic connection avoiding long connecting time and checkpoints at the domestic airport which is time consuming and irritating. Meet & greet. Upon arrival to the international airport Ezeiza, if you opt for the charter connection you will be contacted by our staff at your arrival to Ezeiza International airport. Charter flight to La Pampa will be scheduled to depart from Buenos Aires past midday landing at destination 1,5 hs later where we will meet you to drive to the ranch (1,5 hs drive).At the conclusion of the hunt, the returning charter flight will depart from La Pampa by afternoon, arriving in Ezeiza international airport by late afternoon with plenty of time to catch late international flights. Please make sure to book a midnight departure flight in case you don't plan to stay a night/day in Buenos Aires. In the case that you may want to connect with any side trip we can arrange hotels and different attractions for your stay.

The best time is the roar, in March and April. Stags are vocal and move in daylight, so you can locate them by sound before you see them. These are the most requested dates of the year, and most of our guests reserve them a year ahead.

Our standard free range red stag program is 6 nights and 5 1/2 hunting days. The world class stag program runs 3 to 5 hunting days. Combination programs with other species or wingshooting are built to your dates.

Programs include lodging in double occupancy rooms with private bathrooms, four meals a day, soft drinks, Argentine wines, local beers and spirits, one personal guide per hunter, ground transportation between Santa Rosa airport and the ranch, trackers, bare skull trophy preparation, assistance to export your trophies, and all local taxes and service charges.

International and domestic flights, the charter flight between Buenos Aires and La Pampa, reception at Ezeiza airport and transfers in Buenos Aires, hunting licenses, rifle or shotgun rental, ammunition, dip and pack, trophy export costs and airfreight, and gratuities, which are voluntary.

Hunting is spot and stalk on foot, with one guide for each hunter. During the roar, mornings and evenings are spent moving toward roaring stags and glassing openings in the caldén forest. Midday is for lunch and rest at the lodge.

Any big game program can be extended with animals from a list of more than 13 species, including water buffalo, blackbuck, fallow deer, axis deer and wild boar. Each additional species has its own fee. Ask us for the full price list before you travel.

Yes. Poitahue is managed and run by bowhunters. The bowhunting program is 6 nights and 5 1/2 hunting days for one free range red stag, guided by bowhunters. The thick forest of La Pampa lets you get close to roaring stags on foot.

Yes. Dove and pigeon shoots can be added to a big game week at the same lodge. In March and April, decoyed pigeons combine easily with big game. From May through July we offer mixed bag wingshooting with pigeons, perdiz and doves, plus duck hunting options.

Yes. Rifle and shotgun rental is available at the lodge if you prefer to travel without firearms. Rental and ammunition are not included in the program price.

Yes. Many guests come with family or friends. Non-hunting companions share the lodge, the meals and the ranch life. We can also arrange hotels and side trips in Buenos Aires or elsewhere in Argentina before or after the hunt.

The roar lasts only a few weeks and each guide takes one hunter, so places are limited. Most guests reserve a year ahead, and groups that want the whole lodge should plan even earlier. If your dates are flexible, tell us: we sometimes have openings from cancellations.
